Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ's)
Â
1. What is Intuitive Eating?
Answer: Intuitive eating is a self-care eating framework that helps you reconnect with your body’s natural hunger, fullness, and satisfaction cues. Instead of following external diet rules, you learn to trust your body and build a positive, peaceful relationship with food. It’s evidence-based and shown to support both physical and mental well-being.

2. How is this approach different from traditional dieting?
Answer: Diets focus on rules, restriction, and weight loss. My approach is anti-diet, meaning we move away from rigid food rules and focus on flexibility, nourishment, and body respect. The goal is long-term freedom—not short-term results followed by guilt or rebound eating.

3. Is intuitive eating right for me?
Answer: If you feel stuck in cycles of dieting, guilt after eating, or stress around food choices, intuitive eating could be a great fit. It’s also supportive if you want to improve body image, let go of food rules, or simply feel more confident in how you eat. I’ll meet you where you are and tailor our sessions to your unique needs.

4. Do you work with eating disorders?
Answer: Yes, I work with individuals who are recovering from disordered eating and eating disorders. For some conditions, I collaborate with therapists, physicians, or other providers to ensure you have a full treatment team supporting you. If you’re unsure if I’m the right fit, we can discuss this during a free discovery call.

5. I'm terrified of gaining weight, can I still work on weight loss while I learn intuitive eating?
Answer:
This is such a common and honest fear—and you’re not alone in feeling it. So many of us have been taught that our worth is tied to our body size, and letting go of dieting can feel really scary. In our work together, I won’t put you on a weight-loss plan or promise a certain number on the scale. Instead, we’ll focus on helping you feel more at peace with food, build trust with your body, and improve your overall well-being. What often happens is that weight naturally settles where your body feels healthiest once you’re no longer stuck in cycles of restriction and guilt. It’s completely okay if you’re not ready to give up the idea of weight loss—that’s something we can explore together at your pace. My role is to create a supportive, judgment-free space where you can learn new tools without pressure.

6. How do virtual sessions work?

Â
7. How long is a session?
Answer: Initial sessions are typically 90 minutes so we can dive deep into your goals, history, and current challenges. Follow-up sessions are usually 45-60 minutes, focusing on ongoing support, strategies, and progress.

Â
8. Do you accept insurance?
Answer: I accept Cigna, Aetna, Blue Cross Blue Shield & Anthem (others coming soon) all through Berry Street. For other insurance providers, I can provide a superbill you may submit for out-of-network reimbursement. If insurance isn’t an option, we can discuss private pay packages and sliding scale availability.

9. What if I’m nervous to start?
Answer: Honestly, it would be weird if you weren't nervous! Starting something new, especially around food and body image, can feel vulnerable. My role is to create a safe, non-judgmental space where you can move at your own pace. The first step is simply showing up—I’ll guide you the rest of the way, and having personal lived experience, I understand where you are and can meet you there. 10. What kind of results should I expect?
Answer: Unlike diets that promise quick (but short-lived) results, this work is about long-term change. You may notice less stress around food, improved confidence in eating choices, and greater body trust, compassion and contentment. Every journey looks different, but the focus is always on sustainable well-being—not a number on the scale.
